Support for Families
The Collaborative Foster Care Program is committed to ensuring foster and adoptive parents have adequate training, support and resources to address children's needs, including:
For Foster Families:
- Certified foster parents are not paid for their services; however, a modest monthly reimbursement is provided to cover each foster child's room, board and clothing expenses
- Medicaid coverage for each foster child's medical, dental and mental health needs
- Monthly visits with an assigned worker
- 24/7 support phone line answered by a member of our team
- Detailed manual of policies and procedures
- Connections to certified respite providers for short-term supervision of foster children
- Therapy services to help address struggles that arise while caring for a child, if needed
- Assistance to connect with other certified foster families for support and relief
- Two monthly Kidz' Night Out events, offering 3-4 hours of free supervision for foster children
- Quarterly newsletter for foster families
- Ongoing training opportunities
- Resource library of foster resources
- Opportunity to participate in our Foster Parent Association
For Adoptive Families:
- Monthly visit with an assigned worker until the adoption is finalized
- The County will file all adoption paperwork with the District Court
- Financial assistance may be provided to meet a child's special needs
- Medicaid coverage may be available to assist with a child's medical, dental and mental health needs until age 18
- Referrals to post-adoption resources and support groups in the community
- Two monthly Kidz' Night Out events, offering 3-4 hours of free supervision for adoptive children
- Ongoing training opportunities
