About Us

The Collaborative Foster Care Program is a joint effort between the Arapahoe County and Jefferson County Departments of Human Services. The program serves children from both counties who have suffered a loss, been removed for their protection from harmful environments, or have been determined to be beyond their parents' control. More than 40 percent of the children in care are over the age of 12.

Our goal is to provide high-quality temporary care to abused and neglected children and youth in need of out-of-home placement until permanency can be achieved.

The Collaborative Foster Care Program was created in August 2008 with a goal of taking the best practices from each county's program and combining them in a way that assures foster parents receive the training, support and resources they need to provide an interim home that supports each child's needs, safety and family connections.

By streamlining resources, improving training and recruitment opportunities, and increasing support for foster parents, our two counties are better equipped to place children in the best-possible out-of-home experience until they can return home, be adopted or live independently.
